To switch it up (and not post pictures of a million black shirts), I thought I'd share some cool, quirky, and small monochromatic pieces to jazz up your home today.

Black, White, & Gold
My wardrobe primarily consists of three colors: black, white, and gold. I like to keep things interesting and throw in a colorful pair of shoes or accessories, but I feel most myself in my simplistic color palette.

Hi, Weekend!
On Fridays, I want to share my end-of-week thoughts with you all. You may wonder, What kind of thoughts may that include?
Anything, honestly. Cool stuff I did that week. Things I'm looking forward to. Stuff I'm tempted to buy. Articles I read that are noteworthy. Celebrity gossip I just had to divulge. Food I ate that rocked. Stuff that sucked. Memes that resonated with me. Reasons why life is awesome!
Basically, it'll just be a weekly post full of Megan-isms! :)
Now that we got that introduction out of the way, on to the goods!
We actually had a few beautiful days, full of sunshine, this week! It's about damn time, I'd say.
Humans of New York is currently doing a series interviewing children and families from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. These stories have not been easy to read, but the strength, bravery, resilience, compassion, fragility, honesty, love, and hope they have shared is so powerful. I pray for every family that has gone through or is going through an unbelievable hardship, like having a child with cancer. And I thank God for every doctor, nurse, technician, specialist, consultant, assistant, resident, administrator, and all of the faculty at hospitals that go above and beyond to help families and individuals through such trying times. I highly recommend reading this series, especially if you have never checked out HONY before.
Twenty One Pilot's album "Blurryface" is EV-ER-Y-THING. Ride, Lane Boy, Fairly Local, Polarize, and, of course, Stressed Out are my current favorite songs. I am so glad that they added additional cities to their tour, and my mom and I are going to see them!!! Can't wait until next January ;)
I've been pretty obsessed with Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper on HGTV lately. (I've been binge-watching it on Netflix this week.) I'm going to have a whole post gushing over her makeup very soon. Until then, let's focus on this beautiful quote they have a sign of in their shop (currently sold out, wah): "She designed a life she loved."
Ebates turned 15 this week, and 250+ stores are giving us 15% CASH BACK. Like, WHAT!?! I also saw that Ebates is starting up in-store cash back. I'm down for that!
I ate three cobb salads this week. No joke. I'm gonna take a crack at making my own, I just need to find my salad spinner from college....
My shop my stash/declutter mini-series went up this week on my YouTube channel. I will have a video sharing what I've decided to declutter and why I am parting with each item very soon. GET PSYCHED!!!!
Thank you so much for a great first week on the blog. I am super hyped about it and can't wait to share more and more and more with you guys!
I love you all! Have an awesome weekend!
Talk to you soon :)
xoxo,
Megan

My favorite post so far.

This quote is inspiring me to the core.

Adulting
Adults gonna adult.
And I guess I'm an adult now, considering I work at a desk; get out of bed before 8 AM daily (usually....); talk about the weather, taxes, and gas prices on the reg'; and whine about having responsibilities.
That sounds like being an adult to me!
Now, all of that sounds pretty lousy. BUT there are some super cool things about not being a kid/student/teenager anymore.
In my "Adulting" series, I'm going to feature the stuff I've discovered so far that makes being an adult totally worth it, and hopefully remind myself that growing up isn't synonymous with becoming boring.
What are your favorite things about being an adult?

I found this awesome picture when I Googled "adulting."

My Obsession with Chuck Taylor
I'll never forget my first pair of Converse.
I was in 8th grade. I was dying for a pair forever (every day felt like a century when I was a fresh teenager), and I finally got a pair of black low tops.
Since the early 2000s, I've had a handful of Converse styles, and they've all been far crazier than my original, simple black ones.
A List of My Converse (in order of purchase):
- The quintessential emo teenager black low tops
- The insane multi-color, custom high tops I saved my babysitting money for [You can make custom Converse here!]
- Really sick silver leather low tops (I totally forgot about these 'til I was reminiscing about my good ol' Chucks)
- Low tops with glittery unicorns :)
- Military green high tops that I randomly bought from a thrift shop
- Baby pink high tops (which I bought in 10th grade, still wear regularly, are slightly falling apart, and have paint stains from my Stagecraft class in college)
I am desperately in need of a new pair--as previously mentioned, I haven't bought new Chucks since high school and they really look like it.... I started exclusively buying high tops in high school, and I'm craving to try low tops again. Now my big decision is which color?
I've been wanting the Optic White low tops for a few years, so I think I am going to purchase a pair from Nordstrom during the 15% Ebates Cash Back sale.
But while thinking so much about Converse for this post, I decided to check out the Converse website to see what styles they had....
That was clearly a mistake because in less than 5 minutes, I had $200 worth of shoes in my cart.
I finally narrowed it down to one pair--a really kickass pair, if I do say so myself.
AREN'T THESE MIND-BLOWINGLY AWESOME!?!
So... these are on their way to me as we speak. I haven't had a super fun pair of shoes in a while (being an adult has made me boring), so these will be very welcomed into my mostly-black wardrobe. :)
If you've never had Converse, you gotta give 'em a try. They go with everything, and even the craziest of colors are practically a neutral (!?!) since Converse are such a classic.

This is a REAL PICTURE I took on July 6, 2007 [TWO-THOUSAND AND SEVEN]. I had just turned 15.
Meet my first pair of Converse. HOLY REALNESS. They were 2 years old at this point.

My custom, double-layer converse circa 2008. I was a wacky teenager.

Another very real picture of my sparkly unicorn Chucks. This was taken on June 21, 2008.
(It's like I was destined to have a blog. I used to take pictures of everything back in the day. WAY BEFORE SOCIAL MEDIA.)

Do you wear Converse? Have you been wearing them for over a decade like me?

I always had a blog.
Well, before my YouTube channel, that is. (Anyone remember Xanga? And Livejournal!? Even Tumblr seems old school now!!)
Once I started documenting my thoughts in video form, I fell out of the habit of writing. I've always loved writing. I thought I wanted to do it professionally--maybe I still do. I used to journal every night for several years; I would constantly write poetry and short stories in high school; and I looked to writing as my escape for as long as I can remember.
But I let it slip out of my routine over the past few years, and I miss it. I'm much more eloquent with the written word. I'm not quite as well-spoken as I am well-written (is that a thing?), but I have definitely improved my brain-to-mouth function over my time on YouTube.
I'm proud of how my YouTube channel is evolving as I do; I'm incorporating more of me, my daily life & thoughts, with you all and it's very freeing. I'm a person who feels very stuck after a period of time of doing the same thing or having the same routine--which is confusing, because I respond very well to routine because I know I can count on it, and count on myself to follow through. But I have become increasingly hard on myself about my channel. A good portion of my weekends over the past year or two have been spent filming, editing, brainstorming, commenting, watching, and overall being immersed in all things YouTube. I have loved YouTube for years and I am so thankful to have such an amazing outlet to share my opinions with the world--and I am never ceased to be amazed by how many people all around the world have chosen to watch my videos, even if only by accident.
But I want YouTube to be fun. I don't want it to be stressful, or feel like a burden. I work 8 to 5 Monday through Friday, so weekends are my salvation--as I'm sure they are everyone's (sorry to those who work on weekends; I know how much it sucks). When I look forward to my weekend, I am always planning what videos I want to film. I love brainstorming my video ideas every week. I have a huge list, but that list is seldom looked at because I film whatever I feel like talking about that day, in addition to whatever timely videos should go up (such as Empties and Project Use It Ups at the end of each month). Lately though, I haven't been so into planning and talking about a specific topic. I feel pigeonholed in a way, especially when I start scouring my analytics, making mental notes of all the search terms people use to find my channel and telling myself to make more of those videos--even if they're not topics I feel passionate about. (#thingsNOTtodoasayoutuber)
I am getting re-inspired by LisaLisaD1, who has always been one of my absolute favorite ladies to watch. Her videos are so laid back and it feels like I'm hanging out with her--that's how I want to come across, but also feel when I film my videos. In many of my videos, I don't feel laid back and relaxed, ready to chat with my friends. I feel like an actor in a way, because where I film (on the edge of my bed in front of a bright light) isn't natural or comfortable to me. I am working on a new filming set up where I can be more comfortable as I make videos. The goal is to make videos that I really feel like myself in.
That brings me to vlogging! I'm loving it right now! I'm on a roll with them at the moment, and I hope to keep it up. It's a way I can easily show you my personality and what I do throughout the week in a very natural way. (Wanna watch my latest vlog? Click here.) Vlogging on my iPhone is incredible because I always have my phone with me, unlike a separate vlogging camera, and I highly recommend it to any fellow YouTubers out there who want to get into daily/weekly vlogging.
Having a blog will only supplement my channel, and hopefully give you all a better glimpse into my life, who I am, and what I like.
I love this username, by the way. Seriously all of my bobbypins are lost. Like, ALWAYS.
Anyhow, I wanted to do a little (or long, because you know me) introduction to this blog, because I always love a good backstory.
Thank you so much for being here and being my friends. It's seriously amazing to me that you are all here. I can't wait to share more, new content with you all on this blog--I have so many ideas and I am ready to dive in! I hope you are ready, too. ;)
Have an awesome day.
Talk to you soon!

Megan
